"I want to clarify that the people with Chelsea Terry's office are extremely kind & helpful. I was very impressed with their customer servie & we were feeling good about moving our homeowners & auto insurance policies to State Farm. But, I must say PROCEED WITH CAUTION on auto quotes and ask them to confirm coverage is indeed available if you have a Hyundai or Kia. This office gave us reasonable quotes for insuring all of our vehicles (model year, manufacturer, type & VIN all given to them at time of quote), but when we went to actually purchase & set up the new policy, we were told that State Farm actually would NOT cover one of our cars (a 2016 Kia Soul)---supposedly corporate would not let them sell a new policy for this vehicle & only then does another person in the office look it up & tells me apparently the Soul had been "blacklisted" since Feb (I requested these quotes in late June). (NOTE: Other insurance companies have also quit insuring this & other vehicles due to high theft rate). It was extremely disappointing to learn this fact only at the point of final sale rather than at the time I requested the quote ---after I had spent hours of back and forth, emails & calls, getting further information & details on the policies we intended to purchase. I am frustrated that the State Farm system allowed them to give us a quote in the first place (why wasn't a red flag raised when that vehicle type was entered in the estimate?) & that this local agency sales rep did not have awareness that this would (or might) be an issue until I was in their office actually trying to purchase new insurance. (Surely we aren't the only ones trying to insure this kind of car?) Had we been told this honestly up front, we wouldn't have even considered State Farm and could have just moved on to begin with. To complicate matters worse, State Farm's inability to insure all our cars was discovered only after we had already placed the order for our new homeowners policy (we were changing both at the same time). As soon as she notified us the car couldn't be insured, I immediately asked them to cancel the Homeowners policy & hold my check. The office held & shredded my check as requested, but said they couldn't cancel the policy until it finished going through the corporate process (?). Now, 3 weeks have passed, and I just received a bill in the mail from State Farm for the homeowners policy we tried to immediately cancel. [Wouldn't have cancelled if they could have honored their estimate to insure our cars]. Now, I'm concerned non-payment of a supposedly cancelled policy could harm our personal credit rating. Unfortunately, we had to find another insurance company in order to insure all of our cars & retain the multi-line (home/auto) discounts. And, this has resulted in lots of hassle for everyone. Too bad... because I've otherwise read great reviews of both State Farm & this particular agency."
